Well, after a several month hiatus, I see it's status quo here at Y/A Politics...hate keeps flowing, racism abounds, ignorance proliferates.?

My question: Can anyone tell me why on Earth has the U.S. pledged $3.15 BILLION yearly until 2018 to Israel for Israel's defense?

We taxpayers pay more for Israeli defense than Israelis do.

And before anyone starts with the "Intergalactic KelleeBundee is anti-Semitic," I am not. I am anti-genocide & anti-apartheid.

Q2- Is everyone in our government afraid of AIPAC?

A number of reasons. For one thing, our media present a very one-sided view of what is going on over there. I think there's an huge reservoir of sympathy for Jews due to the Holocaust, and Hollywood's production efforts of that horrible event. I think Americans typically know far more about that than they know about the Palestinians today. I think people still see the Israelites as the Jews in Schindler's List, and the Palestinians are now cast in the role of the Nazis. There's an amazing PR effort by Israel to continue this situation. It's very sophisticated and far-reaching, and I think the Arabs are decades behind in that effort. I think some Americans see the Israelis and Palestinians kind of like an old-fashioned cowboys and indians movie--the Israelis are the good guys, and are like us, and are all good, and the Palestinians are the villains, the "others", and are evil. Also among conservatives, there's the whole religion thing. Jews are supposed to hold down the fort in the Promised Land until the last days come (any day now many US Christians believe).

If you have been away for a few months you might not know that any level 7 can change which category your question is in. This question is in Current Events not politics, pain, but you can change the category back yourself.

But to answer your question, it is probably to stop the Arab nations getting too strong as they have huge amounts of oil. I support the right for Israel to exist, but no other country can flout UN resolutions as they do, be wealthy and prosperous and still get billions in foreign aid. The UK sends billions to Israel too, no idea why really

((((((Kelly)))))) - a month or more ago, I did the math....

It was almost 700 dead Palestinian civilians to every dead Israeli civilian.

Seem the US wants to ensure extinction of *certain* peoples....
