Chelation center?
I don't even think I spelled that right.
But in my town there is a place called that.
What do they do?
Costs?
Anyone ever done this?
How could it possibly be safe?

This is a scam! Chelating agents, or chelation is a medical intervention for treating cases of heavy metal toxicity to poisoning..lead poisoning for example. Chelating centres exploit people's lack of knowledge for financial gain. Why would one use a medical treatment in the absence of illness? Consider, it would be senseless to buy prescription eye glasses if you have perfect eyesight! This is just my opinion but common sense tells me that taking a broad spectrum chelating agent may even be harmful in that it could deplete the essential trace elements your body needs...for example, iron...Chelating agents bond to heavy metals which are then excreted from the body...I imagine that the chelation therapist will promos relief from numerous vague, normal complaints that we all experience from time to time...Fatigue, aches & pains & so forth. True metal poisoning has very specific signs & symptoms. Those who are easily influenced may swear by positive results from chelation treatment but this is likely due to placebo effect. If you truly have concerns about heavy metal poisoning because you have been exposed, ( for example if you have an old house with lead water pipes ), ask your physician to check your blood levels...If you do in fact have something like lead poisoning, you'll need real medical treatment! Otherwise, don't trust any unregulated fad treatment any more than you'd trust a snake oil salesman!
