What do I need to pay when selling my book (from UK) to USA customers?

Hi

I've written a book and had it printed where I live her in UK, I've built a website to distribute it through and been publicising it online.

I've had interest from customers in other countries - what do I need to pay regarding customs and sales tax if I sell the book and post it to customers in the USA?

Do the customers pay the/any sales tax and customs?

May thanks in advance for replies :)

If you bought my book I am in the USA. Would I charge you sales tax.. If I sold many books then I would look into what I needed to do. A few books would go over looked. Operating a business and yearly income tax. If the sales were big. Customs no. The USA do not tell us the UK laws pertaining to sales.

Well you should be registered for Self Assessment in the UK already - see gov.uk if not registered.

You pay for postage and if there are customs charges then the duty will be levied from your customers.
