Why do people today complain about police brutality?

I am pretty certain the media has a lot to do with it, plus it seems the general public HAS NO CLUE about even the recent history of Americas police force.

Even in the 70s, they used dogs, water cannons, tear gas, rubber bullets....and BAYONETS to subdue those 'peace' protestors (I don't see anything peaceful about setting a community on fire and looting the stores).

Look up: KENT STATE MASSACRE.

And go a good while back to the 'Bonnie and Clyde' days, where the police were packing Thompson Sub-machine guns, and BAR Rifles (light machine guns). Were bonnie and Clyde wanted back robbers and killers? Probably, but we will NEVER KNOW, because the cops AMBUSHED THEM. no halt and get on the ground, no stop the car, nothing. Over TWO THOUSAND bullet holes in their car, and Bonnie and Clyde didn't even see it coming. TWO THOUSAND ROUNDS. and how many MISSED? that means: EMPTY magazine into car. RELOAD. EMPTY. RELOAD. all the cops had to at least have reloaded twice to get off that many rounds. Then it was pistols and shotguns after that.

Were Bonnie and Clyde black? racist cops? How many 'good old boys' in the south TODAY get beaten to a pulp by the cops on almost a daily basis? No judge, no jury, no Al Sharpton screaming about the violation of their civil rights.

So, is it media hype, clueless public with no clue of American history, or both?

To answer your question, I'll tell you two stories and give you like to a website.

    1) in a prison, not sure what state (it's on the website I'll link you too) a man was irrationally punished by the security guards that lead to his death. How? They had him under a scolding hot shower for a hour or so, until his skin was MELTING OFF HIS BODY. They had bits of burnt flesh in the shower.

    2) I saw this on yahoo a year or so back, I don't have the article but you can look it up your self. A man was having a visit from police and had a wii controller in his hand (obviously because he was playing wii). He was then shot and killed because they thought it was a gun.

And now I will quote the lovely Captain America regarding everything in your question

Annoying. you live up to your name. HOW OLD ARE YOU? I don't think you even know what BRASS KNUCKLES and BLACK JACKS are. standard issue for cops 'back in the day' but banned now. Cops are not being brutal, but being cautious, because hoodlums today grow up with ZERO morals and kill people for their shoes. and they have ZERO respect for the cops. The cops hands are tied. Do they sometimes over react and make a bad decision? YES. trying making a snap judgment some day when your life is on the line. they do it DAILY. I would fault THE SYSTEM, for not monitoring the cops (through psych evals), and when they are ready to pop, pull them offline for a while so they can calm down. some times innocents get caught in the crossfire. i have been in confrontations with the cops more than a few times because i was being AN ***, and probably deserved to be at least thrown on the ground and handcuffed. they took verbal abuse from me and just being a general turd, but they were professional. did they have their hand hovering on their gun? YES. because they knew me and knew I always carried a gun, but i never got shot for it.

Tldr. But police often abuse their authority.
