Pro Wrestling – What is a wrestler required to have to be a main eventer to you?

Hi, it's Trish again. I was just answering a few questions and looking at older questions and answers when I noticed that some people said that certain wrestlers just don't belong in the main event. However, they don't provide any reasons. Therefore, I am just asking this question to know your personal opinions. What do you think a wrestler needs to have to be a main eventer in the big leagues?

First and foremost you have to make people care about you. It doesn't matter if they love you or hate you but they have to do one or the other. Being boring or getting no reaction is the kiss of death. Contrary to what a lot of the IWC thinks wrestling skills are not that big a deal. Stone Cold, The Rock and Hulk Hogan were all horrible wrestlers. But they could work the crowd. Ric Flair could work the crowd. That's the ticket to fame.

    1) Mic skills (YEP)

    2) Great competitive in ring performance

    3) Good figure (IMAGE)

    4) Loyalty to the sport of pro wrestling

    5) An impressive gimmick that's very catchy

    6) Great charisma

    7) A nice theme music that can touch the croud and bring tention

    8) Great storylines

  • You have to be able to "work" in the ring. Tell a strory with your performance in the ring. You need to be able to have outstanding mic skills if you wish to be a heel. The more heat you get the better as long as it's not "go away heat".

Having good amature wrestling background and knowlege about the history of this bussiness also helps.

A good build up to the main event spot with the company firmly behind them, a great reaction from the crowds on a consistent basis, and obviously someone who knows how to entertain, and get people excited to buy tickets and the wwe network to see the shows like wrestlemania.

I would say a wrestler also needs the ability to adapt to stay on top, having a entertaining gimmick is fine, but almost all gimmicks get old, and guys who don't just have great mic skills should be main eventers, plenty of guys knew how to talk on the mic, and didn't make it. I don't really care about guys who can go out there and deliver their lines perfectly, wrestlers should be allowed to speak from the heart, they got to get the audience pumped up, many legends get it, from Steve Austin, to the rock, guys like sting, it takes some passion and also getting the crowds involved.
