Ear buds vs Howard leight?

Are there any ear buds out there that have the same or better db ratings then a set of Howard leight impact sport muffs?

Update:

Okay so I should've put this in a different category, but I figured hunting folk would have the most experience with the howard leights. At work my boss just outlawed ear buds on the shop floor but I can use my howard leights. I don't like the Howards because the sound quality is horrible and you basically have to cover both your ears where as ear buds I normally have one in one out so I can still hear. If I find ear buds that have the same or better bd stats as the HL's then i can wear those.

Surprisingly, ear plugs, even cheap ones, offer superior hearing protection to most earmuff style hearing protection. There are exceptions, but I highly prefer ear plugs to earmuffs.

Ear buds are speakers, not meant for hearing protection. Is it possible you mean ear plugs?

No. If you want ear protection get ear protection. Ear buds are designed for listening to music.

Yeah...you're right...this isn't the correct category....and nobody should be encouraging you to listen to music at work...basic safety violation
