Why are Americans so obsessed with race?

NASCAR has millions of fans, but its not just car racing! Three of the most famous horse races in the world happen in the United States, the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes. And it doesn't stop there! Nearly every city has its own marathon which attracts thousands of people. What's up with that?

    Speed and horsepower are addictive. We race anything, anywhere, anytime. It's more fun than sitting on the couch watching Jeopardy.
