How old was your child when no naps?
My 3 year old daughter is going some days with a nap some without. How did you regulate your child from naps to no naps? She's almost 4 and is in preschool this year. She always wants to nap on school days but not weekends and it messes up her sleep schedule.

Our now 21 year old daughter napped until she was close to age four.
Our now 18 year old daughter gave up napping right after she turned two, at 26 months.
She always has had a lot of energy, and if she napped, she was up really really late so we just stopped trying to have her nap and she would go to bed by about 7 at night and sleep until 7 a.m.

The childs naps were replaced by Dad taking them. Grandpa too.
They have sleeping races. Grandpa usually wins.
Mom there is the 15 minute nap there is the one hour nap there is the all afternoon nap.
You regulate it by waking them up when necessary. Her school day is SCHEDULED busy time quiet time meal time snack time.
Follow the same schedule HINT your wake up time her breakfast time her snack time her midday meal time.
It is your schedule of shopping and this at that . For during the week it is regular wind down time regular go to bed time. NOT you can stay up for this show. You can play with this or that for ten more minutes.
Going to bed is going to sleep. Going to bed is not TV time or mommy reading book time.
You do your bedtime routine you say goodnight in few days child will just close eyes and go to sleep. If they get up you just take them back to bed and tuck them in
99.% of time they do not need a drink or to tell you something. You will know the 1% when you make exception.
MOM be the MOM you set the schedule for morning wake up. Morning off to school. YOU set the schedule for home time. Meal time snack time play time.
You keep the routine at the same times. In particular the wind down go to bed hour. The bath the change clothes for bed maybe read a story or the glass of milk whatever it is you do. You are the ADULT you can tell time. YOU decide the schedule for GO TO BED and it is the same time every night so that she wakes up the same time every morning.
Naps happen. Use your best judgement if you think the nap has been long enough. They seem to do wonders with a 15 minute recharge. Those hours long recharges are not usually necessary.
