Are one direction today's version of the beatles?

Let me ask you this. When they're in concert, can you hear the music and the singing? Yeah? Well, when the Beatles did a concert, all you heard was a constant roar that rose to the heavens. The guys didn't even have their instruments plugged in after a while. No point, because you couldn't hear them anyway. The answer to your question is no.

NO, NO, NO! The Beatles were and will always be way better! Saying that 1D is better is a disgrace and probably makes John Lennon and George Harrison turn in their graves. As John Lennon said, the Beatles were bigger than Jesus.

And if you look, the Beatles actually have talent. Thus, they had many hits and became popular everywhere! The Beatles, by far, will always be superior and 1D will NEVER come close to being as big as them.

You are wrong. 1D does NOT top Beatlemania. You can say "digital age, age of media" bullsh*t as a reason but it's actually a reason why they aren't. It hurts more than helps because other bands are a really popular too and can use social media to their advantage and trust me, it's REALLY easy to avoid 1D on anything social media, unless it's like news about them doing something not related to music, entertainment, or news in general. And seeing that about anything makes people hate them. HATRED of the band does NOT contribute to them possibly being more popular. The Beatles have some of the most sold albums of all-time, 1D don't. Beatles are respected by every true rock fan that isn't a troll, 1D aren't.

Speaking objectively, they haven't accomplished anything of note when you compare them to the Beatles. Maybe if they grow out of their boy band phase like the Beatles sort of did, I would at least listen to the argument. But they won't. They'll sooner break up than play rock music.

No. You can't rightly compare just any old boy band to a group who was like, THE band. Not the only, but one of the bands who helped start it all. I still think the Beatles are overrated...... but One Direction could just not exist and it wouldn't make a lick of a difference to the world.

Music is just a lot more accessible now than in the 60s. There's Youtube and internet radio, regular radio has thousands of stations, MTV 8 or whatever number actually plays the music now, and it all can be stored on your phone. So really 1D's popularity may seem bigger but their fan commitment isn't really as intense.

Besides 1D is not anywhere good enough to have fans continue to listen to them 50 years later.

No they're not. One Direction are just young singers which in itself isn't bad. But The Beatles, whether you love them or hate them, are singers/songwriters who play instruments.

One Direction didn't change music, they do the exact same thing as every Boy Band around. The Beatles created a new sound that changed music from their time on.
