Can I build a car with $1000?

I'm looking to build a car about $1000. Buy all parts and build by my own. What is the best car to build? It's better if coupe and sporty. Many thanks for answers?

Just a thought: In theory, you might be able to scratch build a kit car body for around twice that. For perhaps 3 times that, you could make a "bare bones" version. If SOLD on line, perhaps you could make around 300% profit. Saving the molds from the project, you might just be able to parlay the initial profits into enough to have a decent space frame./engine/etc., and have a full car constructed for $25K to $35K--paid for by the fabrication.

I don't now if anyone has done this, however....

The only car you're building for $1000 is a soapbox car.

$1000 will get you 4 decent tires and a windshield. Not enough to build a car. Add a zero and multiply your number by 3 and you will be in the ballpark. Not to mention needing indoor shop, and skills to put it together.

no but you can buy a whole one already assembled for a $1000

but if you want to build one yourself add another $9000 at the least and you can build a t bucket hot rod it doesnt HAVE to a v8 if you trying to keep the costs down.

Dream on a engine alone for a salvage yard engine is at least fifteen hundred so you are already in the hole

Yes, go to Toys R Us and buy a plastic model kit. Revell and Monogram are two brands within your budget.
