Should I use a French Press to make my coffee?
I have been making single cups of coffee on top of the stove using only a saucepan and a fine strainer. I let the coffee sit in water a few minutes below a low simmer then strain. Would using a french press be comparable?
I never got a french press and now use an Aerobie Aeorpress with the inverted technique. It's similar, but not the same. I also now freshly grind my coffee which I strongly recommend.

I use a small teapot with a metal strainer.. put in coffee, add boiling water, steep for @ three minutes.. then I pour it into a cup through another, finer strainer. Haven't had a coffee machine for years !

I've used this method before when I don't have my coffee machine. It is messier (because of disposing the coffee grinds after). However, it is way better quality coffee as the coffee sits in the hit water longer. It is more flavorful & richer tasting. Also great for smaller amounts of coffee drinking for 1 to 2 people.

Interests you should consider the hog. And I think the French press coffee better for it.
