First, make yourself a schedule. If your project is due in 5 days, aim to get it done a little bit earlier. Maybe read at least 100 pages a day, so that you finish the book in four days, and have the fifth day to focus on your project.
If you aren't a fast reader and can't possibly finish the book that quickly, then just think about what you need to do for the assignment (write down any questions you'll need to answer, any topics you'd have to write about, etc). Then skim the book to find the answers, and take notes while you skim until you know enough about the book to complete the project. Alternatively, you can look up summaries of the chapters in the book online and use those to do your project. Obviously, it's better to actually read the book, but because you have such a short timeframe to read it, I don't think anyone would blame you for just doing what you need to do.
Good luck!

Get off the internet, and start reading until you go to sleep, if you go to school ruing the day, read throughout the day and continue into the night, and just work at it... 20 pages at a time is how I like to read

Read 80 pages a day. When this is over, give some thought to organizing yourself so that you start large projects sooner. Start by buying yourself a paper calendar to track assignments.

I would say read 80 pages a day, do sparknotes, or sometimes a book has a schmoop video.
