Why are there so many religions?

Because the devil is the ruler of this world, so he uses the false religion to blind the spiritual mind of people:

"among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through" (2 Corinthians 4:4. Bible).

- Scientology (Everyone's favorite crazies!)

- Universe People (About belief of extraterrestrial civilizations existing and communicating with them)

- Church of all Worlds (Based on Sci-Fi Movies)

- The Jedi Religion (Yes, from Star Wars! The Force!)

- Church of Sub-Genius

- The Prince Philip Movement (Thought Prince Philip is a God)

- The Church of Euthanasia (Their Motto: "Save The Planet - Kill Yourself!")

- Raelism (Rael, the leader of Raelism, said he was taken by aliens and saw Buddha, Jesus Confucius and Joseph Smith)

- Aetherius Society (Started by a Cab Driver who had a passion for Yoga, so he started a religion)

- Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (Pastafarianism; thought the world was created by a flying spaghetti monster)

I do agree that many religions do exist today, but for certain to me, I'm sure even MORE RELIGIONS will appear and we'll have over hundreds of them soon! It's just insane how many religions exist in this time period!

That is like asking "why are there so many grains of sand on a beach?" By the time humans are over it all there are just as many ways of looking at reality as there are grains of sand on the beach. That we gravitate to take on larger bigger forms we are just a bigger piece of grain of sand than those who have not formed into formal religions. That's all.

Because there are so many people. As long as there are people who want to manufacture baseless answers to life's big questions, we'll always have religion in its many varieties. Unless, of course, we evolve out of the need to do this.

people can't comprehend they turn to a pile of dust and that's it............humans started with Sun gods and what not, then progressed to holy men. maybe someone from another planet will show up and slap everyone silly and then humans will have some other god...endless cycle

Because so many people fear reality, and the preachers take full advantage of that.

every "new church" makes a crooked preacher rich.

Old ladies eat Miss kitty so they can "donate" to the preacher with the Rolex and mansion.

There is something wrong with that picture!

People were not always as connected as we are today, and so they developed their own answers for the same questions (Why do we exist? What is our goal in life? Do I live on after death?).

FYI- it doesn't look too smart when you answer your own question.

People like to story tell. Some people take these stories seriously. It's a shame, really.

Because people know there is a God and people search for the truth. The truth is found in Jesus Christ.
