Does anyone else think Emma Watsons' he for she is another form of control?
I mean I'm all for fighting inequality, but I can't shake the feeling that this is another tactic to get men to conform. Part of it is due to the title for the movement. He for She??? So where does the She for He come into play. And how can this movement claim feminism to be about equality for men when the whole foundation of feminism is based on women being oppressed by privileged men.
Just confusing that's all. I think her intentions are pure but for some reason something just feels... off. Penny for your thoughts.
You know I think I've figured it out. Though I support her rally for men to rise against inequality there are sections in her speech that suggest feminism is and has always been for men. It's as if she's claiming the poor behavior of feminist in the past never happened. And as much as I'd like to let go of that past, I can't. I can't let feminist off so easy to allow them to redefine feminism to suddenly be male friendly. Maybe if they owned up to past behavior first. we could all move on.
But lets be real, that's not going to happen. Her speech brushes dirt under the rug and I feel that's unexceptionable. I support her fight against inequality but that is all.

I suspect she's using a mixture of the Expecto Patronum, Avada Kedavra spells and Confundus Charm to manipulate the viewers and audiences and those not involved in Feminism. You are usually 'controlled' when under spells and charms.

Why does everyone care about this woman's opinion? Because she's some actress? People have been saying what this chick had said before she had even done this speech and no one cared. Whatever this person was talking about in her speech is her own opinion, and just like everyone else, she has a right to have one

All she did was say gender equality is a good thing for everyone and everyone should get on board.
But trust some men to get vicious about it. Bunch of pansies afraid of a woman with ideas.

What a bunch of cry babies. One woman stands up and makes a statement and you call her a devil, threaten to throw movies out, call her a turd polisher. That is such a sad statement on your attitudes.
