Why do some parents (or future parents) talk down to people who don't want to have kids (ever)?

Seriously even at my young age of 20 this has happened to me from people in my generation who are parents.

Is it because the idea of not wanting a child ever is so alien to them?

No. The idea of having the freedom to travel wherever you want (ex Vegas), be impulsive about big decisions, etc are so alien to them. Do all your travel, trying to start a business, etc etc in your 20's. Don't worry about having kids until you are 30. Don't wait until 40 to have kids though, they'll tire you out faster and probability of complications to pregnancies go way up after 40.

If I had a nickel for every time THIS question has been asked in here… good grief. I have never encountered anyone in real life who outright gives an unsolicited opinion to anyone, young or old, about their reproductive decisions.
