English colonial possessions?
On this map Laguna de Terminos in the Yucatan Peninsular is shown as an English posession.
This is news to me. Apart from logging in the area...any info?

British Honduras: at one time the shores either side of the peninsular were British sovereignty. The lands were mostly occupied by British subjects, who fell out with the Spanish rulers and declared occupation rights.

That seems unlikely. England/Britain had "British Honduras", which is now Belize, further south, as shown on that map. But several nations had several odd small holdings in the Caribbean and surroundings, so do not discount the idea entirely.
