Top 10 Female Anime Characters

Most would probably come from classics or really popular anime. Of course, if you're asking for series where your first thought is a female, the female would likely have to be the main character (or, at least, one of them).

Since not everyone has seen all anime, and there aren't that many hugely popular series with female leads, I don't think you can really ask for "everyone's" idea. Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, etc... are hugely popular, but have male leads. There aren't really a lot of series of that popularity level AND have female main characters that are vastly well known by everyone.

But anyway, here's my two cents (in no particular order):

1) Sailor Moon (Sailor Moon)

2) Madoka (Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica)

3) Haruhi (Suzumiya Haruhi)

4) Misaka (Toaru Kagaku no Railgun)

5) Yoko (Tengen Toppa Gurren Laggan)

6) Revy (Black Lagoon)

7) Ryuuko (Kill La Kill)

8) Sakura (Cardcaptor Sakura)

9) Saber (The Fate series)

10) Nagisa (Clannad)

Kind of a boring list since nearly half of them have their names in the title, but that's what happens if a female is the main character.
