Can I have soy milk while on the paleo diet?

Hi there. I want to start on the Paleo diet. I want to start it because my skin has acne and I want to see if this diet will help. I am male, mid twenties.

I have been as dairy free as possible for months, thinking that dairy was the cause of my acne.

I am not on the diet for weight loss, I am reasonably healthy already, just for my skin.

Thank you.

You might not be getting enough protein, but it's hard to tell you. Have you used any online calculators to figure out how much you need in a day? The breakfast is 12 grams, the protein shake is 30 grams, and I'm not sure what your dinner is, but assuming 3 ounces of meat, maybe 20-25 grams? That might be a little on the low side for a young man with muscle mass. For a woman my size, that's probably enough. Keep in mind, though, that lower-carbohydrate diets tend to cause the loss of a lot of water weight. If you've lost 7 pounds in 3 days, there's a very good chance that most of it's water. Carbohydrates cause more water retention, whereas fat and protein don't, so this is often the side effect of this diet. In fact, some low carbers (and no, you're technically not low carbing because you're having fruit and protein shakes, but you are most likely eating much fewer than you were) actually supplement with broth or stock to replace sodium. The rapid water weight loss can throw off electrolytes. If you feel okay - energetic, not hungry - and you're losing, then there's no reason to eat more. You might want to look into your total protein grams, though. My suggestion, too, is that you eat more protein at breakfast than dinner, as that's when your amino acid stores are lowest and your body is able to most utilize the protein you're eating. So instead of two eggs, try three eggs (18 grams protein) and then cut back your dinnertime if you're currently eating a lot. Otherwise, though, I think you're good.

You can eat and drink whatever you want. Most people start out on a diet and modify it to their own tastes, and so can you. You can tell people you are following a MPD (Modified Paleo Diet) strategy.

Take a look at this blog page from the biggest health blog in Scandinavia that promotes the low carb high fat dietary method: http://www.dietdoctor.com/acne-and-ibs-vanished-wi... You may get the same great results.
