How come Soldiers that have finished serving their duty come home and start having those problems like flashback, get sicks?

My question is, shouldn't our Military by now start training the Soldiers to toughen up on their Mental part? Like be prepared to see thing that you never thought it'll have impact on your daily life once you have return home? Just that lot of Soldiers that finished their duty, and return home with mental illness/bad flash back and get very sicks. Also like the one who start going around killing Citizens or their own Soldiers here in USA.. :(

My Niece had Husband (now ex) who all sudden one night he snap and start beating on her and took her out in the wood and put hand gun to her head.. Because of thing he seen in War. I was very surpised because he doesn't seem to be that kind of person.. I thought he got lucky the war didn't affect him.

I'm hoping our top Military leaders is planning on giving a special training to toughen up our new Soldiers before going out to real war and expect the unexpected. So that way when they come home, it won't conflict with their daily life with family/love one.

So how do you do that? You think you can go into combat seeing people wounded, killed that may have lost limbs and severe injury due to explosives like in an IED attack and it not affect you?

You think you can train your mind to ignore all that?

How a bout the worry and stress in being in combat? You think in any type of training you can replicate that? A service member knows when they are TRAINING. They know it's training. They are not in danger and aren't going to catch a round or be caught in an IED attack etc

You think since man has fought with clubs to the present day there is anyway to eliminate PTSD or other mental issues that can arrive from combat? I guess next you will say that our Police, Fire Fighers, First responders and medical professionals need to "toughen up" too?

PTSD can AFFECT ANYONE.. You don't have to go through combat. POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER. Civilians can get it from any type of traumatic event in their lives. I know someone who was a victim of spousal abuse. She was diagnosed with it.

Even military members that aren't in a combat role can get it. They are in a combat zone and face attack on base or if they have to travel as part of their duties can come under attack in convoys etc.

    You can't make people robots..sorry that's reality.

How do you suggest that the "military leaders" make this happen?

Soldiers are trained to be mentally fit as well as physically and are constantly briefed on ptsd and where to get help. Most return home just fine, some don't.

Dude, be careful with this one, you can train all day, but when your out in battle zones, and your constantly under pressure, of being killed by a sniper, driving and seeing kids playing on side of road, not knowing if one has a gun or explosive s, road side bomds, watching your friends get shot up bleeding, dude these guys comin back need anti stress help, and lur government can care less, its disgusting how we treat these heros fighting for a country that seems not to give a sht about them after they leave...

This kind of thing has happened since before the Roman Legionnaires came home from wars.

Most people come unglued at the scene of a car accident.

My step dad was part of escorting EOD out in convoy's in search of IED's. They hit 4 roadside bombs out there and he watched 3 of his friends die. but yeah too bad the army didn't train him to get over that like it's no big deal.

After being in war, seeing all kinds of bad ****, it gets to you, and its hard to adapt to civilian life. when i got back if i even heard an airplane id be on the ground. thankfully, im not that bad anymore. its just that the soldier gets used to military life and when he comes home hes not used to being a civilian anymore.

    Wtf is wrong with you?

They're more mentally tough than any other profession, and it begins to be instilled in them day 1 at boot camp.

What you are talking about is PTSD, a mental disorder.

Why can't rape victims just toughen up, right?

So much ignorance in such a short question.

Being tough has nothing to do with seeing your best friend blown up...
