The car pictured needs cleaned up before we can see whether or not there is much rust. Pictures of inside, under the hood and all sides of the car would help also.

From what I see in this picture, the car may not need much. A good cleaning, the windows look good. probably needs new cowls for the windows though. Definitely needs new tires and hub caps or wheel.

I restored my '64 Ford Fairlane for $2000. That was new paint, tires and ceiling liner. My seats, dash and body were good. No rust to worry about and all glass was good. These old car with that curved windshield, while they look great, are extremely expensive to replace.

If the motor and transmission work decently and all you have to do is change out the oil, water and transmission fluid and filters you should get by with $5000 fairly easily if you're doing the work yourself.

Depends on the basic condition of the car you find and how good of a restoration you expect. If you want a factory like finish on the paint, that alone could cost you up to $5000. Upholstery work could cost $1500+, tires $1000, Engine and transmission $?????Ks When you are through you will have more invested than the vehicle would be worth. If you just want something to play with and do not expect much then the $5000 budget might work Good Luck

It would not be an easy restoration if all does not go well.

Try researching the availability of body panels, you may have to create pieces using sheet metal working tools - hammers, English wheel etc, if they are not available.

It really depends on your skills, equipment and the amount of rust.

You could spend your $5000 just paying a good bodyshop to paint the hearse

I dont think $5,000 will cut it, it really depends on what shape the engine is, transmission & rest of the vehicle. If you have a budget, not sure I would attempt any such project

Paint job alone runs about $2-3,000
