Are you forced to haul triple trailers in Oregon?

I'm a CDL holder in Washington State. I might be getting a driving job soon with Saia. Washington State doesn't allow triples but Oregon does. I will sometimes be driving between Saia terminals in Oregon (Portland and Medford). I would also be driving sometimes in Idaho (Boise Saia termial) which I think also allows for triples. Here in Washington, my home terminal is in Kent/Seattle. I'd be hauling freight between the 3 states terminals. Even though I do have the doubles/triples endorsement on my CDL, would I be forced to haul triples or would I only do doubles? I've heard that triples but not doubles require not only the doubles/triples endorsement but also something called a long combination vehicle certificate which I don't have. Any info on this would be helpful. Thanks

They're not going to "FORCE" you to drive anything, and they are not going to let you drive something that you are not certified and licensed for. I've hauled doubles over the mountains between Reno and Oakland, and I honestly prefer pulling doubles over a single 53 footer when going through the steep and twistys. Doubles track a lot easier than the longer single trailer.

Triples are allowed only in limited roads, even though they are legal. You are not forced to do haul triples. If you don't feel you are up to the job turn it down. It is better to be safe than sorry.

I do believe that a LCV certificate is required for triples. Your employer is the one who signs off on it. They have a driver with a LCV, he observes you hook the set and pretrip. Then has you drive and observes you. If all is ok you get your LCV. Until that happens you drive a set of doubles. It is ok to drive doubles in OR.
