  • Window heat pump seems to be in backup/auxiliary heat mode?

I have a window heat pump to heat my apartment. It seems to be working just fine except for one thing. I have noticed that sometimes when I used it in heat mode, the compressor comes on, but other times (mostly) it does not come on. Since I am new to heat pumps, bare with me. I have watt meter, and when I checked the energy usage, it says its using about 1400 watts. Thats about how much it is supposed to use when it is using auxiliary heat mode, or the backup to the normal heat pump function. In the heat pump function, its supposed to use about 760 watts. I am assuming that when the compressor comes on when in heat mode, that means its actually functioning as a heat pump and not as a heater. But again, it hasnt came on in a while and its been in auxiliary heat mode for a long time now. Is that because its below freezing outside? I have heard that they will do that when it gets down to a certain temperature. But my Frigidaire window heat pump didnt say at what temperature the heat pump would stop working and the aux heat would kick in. Is there any way to override the aux heat mode? Model number is FFRH0822R1E1 if that means anything. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

  • Would it be cheaper to heat with space heaters or the baseboard heaters that are in the apartment?

I have 4 baseboard heaters in my apartment. I very rarely use them as they are not very efficient as in they are one of the most expensive ways to heat a home. I use a window heat pump to heat the kitchen area. I set it to 65 degrees when Im actually home either on the weekends or when Im sleeping. It runs for a few minutes then shuts off and repeats every so often. The 2 baseboard heaters in the bathroom and kitchen I again almost never use. The 2 slightly larger baseboard heaters in my bedroom and the tv room I use even less. For my bedroom, I use either a portable baseboard heater which I think would be cheaper (1500 watts) considering that the 1 thermostat runs the tv and bedroom baseboards (1500 watts each so 3000 watts when turned on) and the 2nd thermostat runs the other 2 baseboards. Or I usually use an oil filled radiator heater for my bedroom and I also use that for the tv room on the weekends. Just got my bill and it was sky high. Should I just stop using my space heaters? When I leave for work or shopping or for any reason, I always turn off all of my heaters and unplug them. It would seem like I should use my oil filled radiator space heater to heat my bedroom when Im sleeping since it has either 600/900/1500 watt settings. I use either 600 or 900 watts. But maybe they are on all the time when I am asleep and dont realize it. Any advice from someone with more experience with this kind of thing would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

  • Window AC Unit water sloshing after rain storm?

I got home from work about an hour and a half ago. I go to turn on my window ac unit and I hear what sounds like water sloshing around in there. I turn it off because I dont want it to get damaged. There was a very NASTY rain storm as I was driving home. I decided to turn it on again and wait this time. The sloshing sound went away soon after and the window ac unit seems to be working/cooling as it should. Is this normal for window ac units that have not been used all day? Is it bad that water seems to get in there? There is no water getting into my apartment, so thats good. Thank You for any info you can give me

  • 2003 Dodge Neon coolant leak?

I just discovered a coolant leak in my 2003 Dodge Neon on Thursday. I didnt find out until the next day that it was coolant. I added more coolant thinking it was low because of the leak but it was still very full. The engine does not run hot, and there is no steam coming from under the hood when the car is running or off. The leaking starts after I turn the car off. It doesnt leak for very long before it stops. Obviously its not a head gasket. So Im kinda thinking its something simpler (I hope) like a hole in a hose somewhere. What do you guys think it could be if its not a hose problem? I have heard that if it was a water pump problem that there would be a knocking sound. Is this true? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

The rand mcnally website had nothing. Their technical support team isnt open until Monday morning. Thank you

  • Why cant I permanently disable the pinch zoom feature in Windows 10?

I had no issue doing this when I was using Windows 7 and Windows 8. I can temporarily disable the pinch zoom here in Windows 10. However, unlike 7 and 8, each time I disable pinch zoom using Windows 10, its only temporary. It stays disabled as long as the computer is on. When I have to restart it or I turn it off for the night, it reverts back to the default settings when I turn on the computer the next time I use it. This never happened for me when I used previous versions of windows. Only on Windows 10. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

  • Why am I getting poor reception on my Galaxy Note 4?

I have Sprint. I used to have a Galaxy Note 3. I was forced to upgrade to a Galaxy Note 4. On my Note 3, I had damn near perfect voice, 4G data, and gps reception. However, when I upgraded to a Note 4, I noticed that I only had about 1 sometimes 2 bars if lucky. Calls are getting dropped on my Note 4 constantly. Data for the most part is unaffected. However, I rely on my gps on my phone for my job and I almost never can get a signal for my gps on my Note 4 but I never had a problem on my Note 3. Could it be a manufacturers defect? Ive also heard that the SIM card for the phone might be to blame. Its been like this since the day I got the phone at the Sprint store. Clearly its not the Sprint network but the phone. Or, could I not be understanding something here? Thank You for any info you can provide to me

  • Ignition lock cylinder repair fail?

I have a 2003 Dodge Neon. The ignition lock cylinder needed to be replaced. I bought an ignition lock cylinder that goes with my car. Of course I have the so called smart key, therefore I will have to rekey/recode the new lock cylinder with the tumblers that came with it. I carefully took out the tumblers from the old cylinder and put them down in the specific order that I took them out. I then put the new tumblers that came with the new cylinder into the new cylinder in the same order that the old tumblers in the old cylinder were placed. I had to do this because I guess I have that smart key and had to try to rekey/recode the cylinder so that it would work with my old key as the new key wasnt a smart key. Anyway, I put the new cylinder in and now its locked in place. I cant take it apart like I did before. I just decided to put the old tumblers back into the old cylinder and use that until I can figure something out. Well, now my old cylinder wont even unlock. Now Im screwed and cant use my damn car. Why would the cylinder just lock up like this? Is there a chance that I coded the cylinder incorrectly? But even if I did, shouldnt it still be able to come apart easily like before so I can try recoding it again? Also, can I get some estimates on how much either a dealer or repair shop will charge for a new ignition lock cylinder plus a new smart key which I now also need? Or is there a chance that they would be able to take apart the cylinder that I bought and work with that?

  • 2003 Dodge Neon igniton lock cylinder locks up sometimes?

The ignition lock cylinder in my 2003 neon sometimes locks up. I just want to replace the thing. The part is somewhere in the range of $50 to $70. Not too bad. I think my current key has that special chip in there that allows it to start the car. If I get another lock cylinder from an auto parts store (I believe when you buy an ignition lock cylinder they provide a key or 2) and replace the part myself, will my car start and run like normal? Or, is something in the car going to have to be reprogrammed? The local dodge dealership wanted to charge me $349 for the ignition lock cylinder job. I dont get how a cheap piece like that that takes no more than about 3 to 5 minutes tops to change out could cost that much

  • Why is my paycheck so small?

My first paycheck 2 weeks ago was small because I was only paid for 1 week. It was $542.70. I just checked my account to see if my direct deposit for my full paycheck went in yet and it has. However, my so called full paycheck is only $564.97. That 2 week or full paycheck is only about $20 more than my 1 week small paycheck. What is going on here? Something is obviously messed up and I'm a little concerned about this. I did miss 2 days because I was severely sick. I make $15 per hour. Even with those 2 missed days, my check still should be between $900 and $1000

  • How much are these repairs to my car going to cost?

I have a 2003 dodge neon. I need to get the serpentine belt, the spark plugs, and the ignition lock cylinder replaced. After everything is said and done, roughly how much will this end up costing me? I know labor can cost a lot sometimes

  • Are you forced to haul triple trailers in Oregon?

I'm a CDL holder in Washington State. I might be getting a driving job soon with Saia. Washington State doesn't allow triples but Oregon does. I will sometimes be driving between Saia terminals in Oregon (Portland and Medford). I would also be driving sometimes in Idaho (Boise Saia termial) which I think also allows for triples. Here in Washington, my home terminal is in Kent/Seattle. I'd be hauling freight between the 3 states terminals. Even though I do have the doubles/triples endorsement on my CDL, would I be forced to haul triples or would I only do doubles? I've heard that triples but not doubles require not only the doubles/triples endorsement but also something called a long combination vehicle certificate which I don't have. Any info on this would be helpful. Thanks

  • Can someone get a job at FedEx Freight if they have failed a pre employment UA?

One of my former Co workers failed a pre employment UA in November when trying to get driving job. He only has tried pot 2 times in his life when he was younger plus a few months ago. He has completed the return to duty process as required by the US DOT to legally be able to drive again so he's good in that sense. However, I know that companies have their own policies on whether to hire the person or not. I'm not sure as to what company he failed the UA. He's trying to get a job as a truck driver with FedEx Freight. He seems to think that he'll get the job since he completed the Return To Duty Process. I'm telling him that he probably won't because FedEx is such a big company. What's FedEx policy on this? Or is it on a case by case basis?

  • How do I get the necessary drivers I need for my laptop?

I have a Toshiba Satellite P75-A7200 with the model number PSPLNU-00H004. I know that I could go to the Toshiba website as I have just looked that up. But it seemed like it had a whole hell of a lot of drivers that I didnt necessarily need. I only want the required drivers. Is there any program that I could download that would tell me only the required drivers I need for my particular computer? I will be installing windows 7 on my computer. But it is not a manufacturer CD. I downloaded and burned a windows 7 cd. So I will need to put the drivers on my laptop separately. Or, should I simply do the windows update? If I do the windows update until there is nothing that needs to be updated, will that be good enough? Thanx

  • How much will this item on my credit report affect my ability to buy a vehicle?

I have bad credit. But Im working on paying off the debts that I do have so I can improve on my credit score. I had a loan that I was supposed to pay off through a company that the OC does business with. I was unable to make the payments due to a job loss. I think the high balance was something like $4,069. That was sent back to the original creditor. When that happened, the company that the OC does business with put a negative mark on my credit report. However, I eventually found a new job and started making payments with the OC. I have paid that off a year or so ago. When dealerships run a credit check on me, what are they going to say when they see the high balance? Its been paid off as I said but will they still treat that as being not paid even though it is? Thank You for any info you can provide to me

  • What taxes would I pay if I bought a car from out of state?

I live in washington state, king county. I know that if I buy a car in a different county WITHIN washington state that it will be a little cheaper considering that king county has the highest taxes in washington state. But what if a buy a car from somewhere in Idaho? Again, I understand that I will still have to pay washington state sales tax on the car. However, since Im purchasing the vehicle from Idaho, would the county taxes/fees from whatever county in Idaho I buy the vehicle from apply? Or would king county taxes/fees apply? My father (also lives in King County) bought a vehicle from a different county within the state and saved some money. Why would king county taxes not apply since I live in the county?
