2003 Dodge Neon igniton lock cylinder locks up sometimes?
The ignition lock cylinder in my 2003 neon sometimes locks up. I just want to replace the thing. The part is somewhere in the range of $50 to $70. Not too bad. I think my current key has that special chip in there that allows it to start the car. If I get another lock cylinder from an auto parts store (I believe when you buy an ignition lock cylinder they provide a key or 2) and replace the part myself, will my car start and run like normal? Or, is something in the car going to have to be reprogrammed? The local dodge dealership wanted to charge me $349 for the ignition lock cylinder job. I dont get how a cheap piece like that that takes no more than about 3 to 5 minutes tops to change out could cost that much

A lot of the steering column has to come apart. Not that easy. Sometimes you have to grind metal away to remove it.
