Yahoo Answers is shutting down on May 4th, 2021 (Eastern Time) and beginning April 20th, 2021 (Eastern Time) the Yahoo Answers website will be in read-only mode. There will be no changes to other Yahoo properties or services, or your Yahoo account. You can find more information about the Yahoo Answers shutdown and how to download your data on this help page.

Aside from your present Religious (Spiritual) Belief, What other beliefs have you studied and researched prior to that time?

At one time, I was an agnostic, an atheist, then a Christian. Prior to becoming a Christian I nearly died and spent a week in the hospital. After that I began reading and studying everything I could find about religion and spirituality. I will not go into detail at this time. I want to hear your "story".

Thank You,

Eds

I was brought up in the Roman Catholic Church and practiced it faithfully until I was asked to leave and not come back at age 20. I was asking too many questions that the priests and nuns could not answer to my satisfaction. I've always had an insatiable appetite for knowledge.

I floundered for many years before I was led to go to a Bible Book Store and the owner presented the gospel to me and led me down the Roman road. I can't even begin to express verbally what a relief it was to find out how easy it was to come to God and allow Him to save me. It's not about me ... it's ALL ABOUT HIM!

I praise God every time I think of my past and how He encouraged me along the way until I desired to really know Him experientially. He removed all my crutches from me until I had no one or no where to go but ... to Him!

I've looked into the other "religions" and cults so I can identify them and know what they believe. It helps to know what others believe so we who have the truth can lead them to the truth of Jesus Christ.

Eds, I don't get the Hidden Answers either. I thought the Asker was the one to hide them but if you don't know ... who does pick and choose answers to be hidden? I know I've had a few of mine hidden.

Thing is there are only two, that I would admit to.

Reason is the one that I was in, Roman Catholicism, I was very deep into this religion, because I was involved in the church, in a lot of aspects and my family background, I learned most of what I needed to know, that would help me spiritually while I was in the church.

I wanted to understand and experience every thing relevant to my ability and involvement in church life.

There is very little about the Roman Catholic religion, that I do not know about.

I felt the knowledge would help me to understand my Catholic religion, and improve on my shortcomings.

Was also a Charismatic and read and studied everything I could get my hands on, about the Holy Spirit operating in the church.

When the movement first started in the church, it was strange to me, in my Catholic traditional experience.

Now that I am a Born Again believer, the flip side of Catholicism, is being Pentecostal, and I have studied this in detail too.

The difference is, that I have now experienced God in action, since I am a Born Again believer of over many, many decades.

It is wonderful, when you can read and study the Bible and then put into practices and see the fruits of what the Born Again experience is all about.

Everything the bible says is true, and I do not have to depend on anyone to show me God, now I know God lives in my heart, and is available at any moment, without the guilty feelings and the condemnation of not being able to deal with my sins--or according to the Catholic church.

I had the benefit of knowing as much as I could about the Catholic religion, and now as a Born Again bible believer, I can study the bible as much as I want and reap the benefits of doing that.

I was into the occult and did not know it because I was an Episcopalian and had no knowledge of it being bad but I was to find it out a year later and I was cursed because of it and for ten years afterwards horrible things happened to me.

Over the course of 3months 2 friends and my only brother died 3 weeks apart. When we dabble in the occult terrible things can happen to us and our families. If I had some teaching on it I know I would never had gone to a psychic and been told that something horrible was coming.

Not till ten years later did I get free when I was saved and received the Baptism of the Holy Jesus set me free.

It is so dangerous to delve into the occult because we can really get into a whole of trouble as I did. I had been in to Jeanne Dixon and Edgar Cayce both psychics I should have known better but I was ignorant and I did not know I was not saved when I was reading the books they wrote.

This is why the Lord wants us to be saved and He wants us to know who we are in Christ. So that we are not fooled by the devil and his wiles.

I was raised Christian, then gradually realized that it couldn't be true. I studied Buddhism, Hinduism, shamanism, Wicca, and a few others I've forgotten. Eventually I realized that they all had the same essential problem - no solid evidence - and I wond up an atheist.

    Previous paths:

    -Indoctrinated as Christian

-turned heretic at, like, five, because I didn't like believing in god.

-turned Christian again at, maybe 8 or 9, because I was confronted will fallacious arguments from a really, really retarded Christian apologist.

-turned Agnostic at the age of 13 or 14

-turned Agnostic Atheist at the age of 14 or 15

    Future potential paths:

    -Pantheism

    -Buddhism

    -Deism

    -Atheism

Started out without the need nor knowledge of gods. Researched many beliefs, faiths and gods only to find that they were all products of man's colourful and creative imagination. I even looked into Pantheism and found that it too was lacking. Ultimately I chose to remain as I was born, without the need of gods.

I have always been an atheist as are most people in Canada, education is stressed here over superstition.
