Windows 7 severe system slowdown?
My father updated his laptop today (Oct 16 2014) and once the updates were complete, his system is now acting extremely sluggishly and system restore will not initialize.
I have looked online, trying to find some solution for this problem, but of everything I have found, nothing works or seems applicable.
I apologize for the lack of detail (system specs, etc) but this information cannot be accessed. All I know is that it is a Windows 7 laptop and up to date with updates and service packs. As far as the behavior of the system, as I said, it responds very slowly once it has booted up and system restore will not initialize.
Please help and thank you for any input.

Uninstall the Updates [m/soft will put them on again might not be configured right] and see if any different go to Control Panel click Windows Updates then go to bottom and click Installed Updates Then Right Click and Delete all Updates put on today. Then Reboot Computer.

Sounds like an infection had occured during updates. Try to scan it with a reputable scanner, then scan its registry for any invalid registry entries.
