Bible question- What do you believe the Kingdom of God actually is?

Update:

Let me begin by saying that I am not a Premillenialist. The Kingdom of God is described in Jeremiah 23:5-6 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, The Lord Our Righteousness. Begin here and I will add another reference later.

Update 2:

(GODS original plans NEVER changed.)

Daniel 7:13-14 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed. Eds

Update 3:

Christ's church is described in Hebrews 12:28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear

(Jesus is the Head of the Church.) Ephesians 1:22-23 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. -Eds

Update 4:

Some will separate the church from the Kingdom and say JESUS was rejected by HIS People and GOD changed HIS Mind. Luke 1:31-33 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

Jesus told people that the Kingdom of God is not a place. He said that if you have given your life to God, and let Him become your Lord and Savior, "The Kingdom of God is within you." (Luke 17:21) This means you can be part of the Kingdom of God now, today. It's not something that will happen someday, it's something you can be part of here and now, if you're willing to let Jesus be the Lord of your life, and it lasts forever!

God's Kingdom is a heavenly government that Jesus taught us to pray for at Matthew 6:9, 10. God's Kingdom is the solution to all of the problems facing mankind today. It will crush and put an end to all other governments and restore the earth to a Paradise as God intended. Daniel 2:44; 7:13, 14; Isaiah 35:5,6; 25:8; 65:21,22; Isaiah 2:4; Psalms 37:29; Revelation 21:3,4

Other JW's have given you the correct answer, so no need to add to it, other than the fact that you show WHO the kingdom of God was given to, but you do NOT show WHAT the Kingdom is, !

If you read Dan 2:44 you see that in the prophecy about the time of the end (which is where wee are) Danies says......"“In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom+ that will never be destroyed.+ And this kingdom will not be passed on to any other people"

Now compare with 1 Cor 15: 24 where we see Jesus giving the Kingdom back to his Father and his God Jehovah !

A mature Christian should know the Kingdom of God is within them and their body is the Temple of the Lord. The Holy Spirit can even speak through a Christian's mouth. We are even told to not worry about what we are to say during trying times, because the words will be given to us. Read the Holy Bible and study it as you are told by God.

The Kingdom of God is a government that God controls instead of human Governments. The governments of this time will be done away with and God's government will replace it and it will last forever. Daniel 2:44

My personal opinion is the Kingdom of God is in two parts. Jesus came to set up His Kingdom here on earth but His own rejected Him. But God will once again turn back to Israel and fulfill His promise to them. They will have 1,000 years of the Kingdom (Millennial Kingdom) but after that we will all be a part of the New Heavens and New Earth (those who are born again).

What I think you are referring to is the earthly Kingdom which is the thousand year rule and reign of Jesus here on the earth which was promised to Israel by God.

  • Good question.

The only way to find out what this Kingdom is, is by searching and comparing scripture.

Firstly, did Jesus mean that the Kingdom of God was in their hearts when he said "the Kingdom is within you?" Well, we know he couldn't have meant that because he was talking to the obstinate religious leaders at the time. Their hearts were were seeking to kill him. He told them exactly what their hearts were like - "Inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.”

    - Matthew 23:27, 28.

Secondly, we know from the scriptures that this Kingdom...

    (A) Has people ruling in it:

    Please read Revelation 5:10

    (B) Will take effective action against the corrupt governments of the earth by removing them and ruling in their place

    Please read Daniel 2:44

    (C) Has God-given authority for its rulership and is not elected by people Please read Psalm 2:4-6 & Isaiah 9:7.

    (D) Will bring in untold blessings that cannot be accomplished by human governments.

Please read Revelation 21:3,4 & Psalm 72:16 for just 2 of those blessings.

    (E) It is in heaven, and will rule from there over the earth.

    Please read Matthew 4:17

Jesus said, "If those who lead you say to you, 'See, the kingdom is in the sky,' then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, 'It is in the sea,' then the fish will precede you. Rather, the kingdom is inside of you, and it is outside of you. When you come to know yourselves, then you will become known, and you will realize that it is you who are the sons of the living father. But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty and it is you who are that poverty."

"First of all, as to the question of where exactly hell and the Buddha exist, one sutra states that hell exists underground, and another sutra says that the Buddha is in the west.

Closer examination, however, reveals that both exist in our five-foot body.

This must be true because hell is in the heart of a person who inwardly despises his father and disregards his mother.

It is like the lotus seed, which contains both blossom and fruit. In the same way, the Buddha dwells within our hearts.

For example, flint has the potential to produce fire, and gems have intrinsic value.

We ordinary people can see neither our own eyelashes, which are so close, nor the heavens in the distance.

Likewise, we do not see that the Buddha exists in our own hearts."

God’s Kingdom is a government established by Jehovah God with a King chosen by God. Who is the King of God’s Kingdom? Jesus Christ. Jesus as King is greater than all human rulers and is called “the King of those who rule as kings and Lord of those who rule as lords.” (1 Timothy 6:15) He has the power to do far more good than any human ruler, even the best among them.

You will remember learning that he was put to death on a torture stake, and then he was resurrected. Shortly thereafter, he ascended to heaven. (Acts 2:33) Hence, that is where God’s Kingdom is—in heaven. That is why the Bible calls it a “heavenly kingdom.” (2 Timothy 4:18) Although God’s Kingdom is in heaven, it will rule over the earth.—Revelation 11:15.

When Jesus said that his disciples should pray for God’s Kingdom to come, he also said that they should pray for God’s will to be done “as in heaven, also upon earth.” God is in heaven, and his will has always been done there by the faithful angels. In Chapter 3 of this book, however, we learned that a wicked angel stopped doing God’s will and caused Adam and Eve to sin. In Chapter 10, we will learn more about what the Bible teaches regarding that wicked angel, whom we know as Satan the Devil. Satan and the angelic spirit creatures who chose to follow him—called demons—were allowed to stay in heaven for a while. Hence, not all in heaven were then doing God’s will. That was to change when God’s Kingdom would begin to rule. The newly enthroned King, Jesus Christ, was to wage war on Satan.—Revelation 12:7-9.
