What is your opinion on this 1999 Pontiac sunfire?
1999 Pontiac Sunfire. Needs work on trans due to leaking. 4 door. Call Mike and LEAVE MESSAGE. $700 I'm 19 & I need a car for work I'd be a first time car owner. It's in Raleigh, NC btw. It seems a bit far fetched so feel free to let me know what you think.

Go fetch a mechanic that you think you can trust, and have them look at it. It might cost $200 for one or around that price, but it could save thousands. If he doesn't want you to bring one, then simply walk away from it. If you think you or someone you know can easily repair the tranny for a cheap price, then consider it, but if you dont know how or if you get a price quoted that is a lot, don't bother. Tell him your circumstance and say, hey this car is old, it needs a new transmission, maybe new tires, (if rusty say that) go $500 or get the transmission fixed first.

Avoid this car, you could spend more than $700 just fixing the transmission. Always be leery of a car owner which doesn't think the car is worth repairing.
