What was with the soldier trying to prevent rusev from taking down the flag?

Had the flag been pulled down and touched the canvas, it would make WWE look bad.

Scripted or not, the soldier had every right to run to the ring and do something about. I'm sure that many others would've done the same thing.

On the wrestling canvas , he should have felt those footsteps fast approaching . The Service member had made his intentions too clear . To confront a professional wrestler , inside a W. W. E. Professional Wrestling Ring , standing beside his ringside manager , instead of ATTACK - and - SUBDUE ! Loss of initial objective ( due to an anticipated distraction ) , not only made our service member a Liability , but also a ( non - service connected ) casualty . That is , of course , unless he is an Honor Guard ; in his respective Branch of Service .
