Our government (USA) is broken and I think I know why. What are your thoughts?

Our government is broken because of partisan politics. But worse than the actual politicians being bipartisan, is the voters. We as citizens need to be united against a poor, ineffective government. But we are at each other's throats worse than anything. As long as we cannot fix the government, the politicians will continue to worry about one thing, and that is to get rich. I see hundreds of posts on answers.yahoo political section and its right vs left. Democrat vs republican. Liberal vs conservative. Don't you people see that is exactly what our corrupt government wants? We don't have control over anything. All the control resides with lobbyists and special interest groups. As long as we stay divided amongst ourselves, we will never fix the problems of our country. I have suspicions that our government uses the biased and partisan media to feed into weak minded individuals to keep them from seeing what is truly happening. Brothers and sisters!! I implore you to think for yourselves. We need to change the system. But we have to change first. I'm not hating on any particular group. I want people to wake up and realize that your politicians don't care about you. Democrat and republican. They are both the same. Nothing changes. They just flip it, spin it and call it their own, or blame it on the other party. Its obvious to freethinkers, but to staunch party liners, there is a big difference. Stop the division..unite unite unite!!!!

I believe the gridlock we have been seeing in Washington for the last 6 years is the result of conservative 1%ers working to make supply-side economic theory and policies permanent by keeping Obama (who was elected twice to Change that by burying supply-side and moving the country toward a demand-side economy) from effecting the Change that he was voted into office to make.

You say we need to unite. But, unite to do what? Other than voting in enough Democrats and moderate Republicans on Nov 4 to make it possible to bury supply-side economics, I see no way to accomplish the goal of putting the People back in charge of the country. If Republicans gain control of the Senate on Nov 4, supply-side economics will become permanent and the 1%ers with their corporations will have accomplished their takeover of the U.S. government.

Yeah.....so what? The majority of the citizenship is comprised of sheeple. The "free thinkers" are disorganized and outnumbered, and the reality is that the system is just too big at this point to do anything about it. As long as people continue to live in fear, the government gets to do what they want. People will always live in fear. The government will always have control. The end.

    Your rant is somewhat generalized

The problem with Congress is too much partisan angst

The problem with government is that too many people bring politics to work

If government "workers" actually did some work the country would be in much better shape

This will take multiple questions but on an issue by issue basis I'll provide my two cents. Soon I'll have a yahoo! answers two dollar bill, I could answer up to 150+ questions if you want to ask all night. I can make it my mission because it's midweek, my three day Tuesday-Thursday weekend.

But I don't want to "work with them"; I want them out of the way! Nothing they have to say holds any interest to me; their words are as the wind.

The problem is that too many Americans have been trained to view the government as a source of free sh!t

Politicians & bureaucrats are rewarded for failure. Too many people have been beaten down by government corruption and incompetence, and too many people have given up (surrendered to government).
