Would it surprise you to know that Atheists & Agnostics are, on average, the most informed about religion out of any group?

If you want to know about God, you might want to talk to an atheist.

Heresy? Perhaps. But a survey that measured Americans' knowledge of religion found that atheists and agnostics knew more, on average, than followers of most major faiths. In fact, the gaps in knowledge among some of the faithful may give new meaning to the term "blind faith."

To anyone with a clue (Which excludes most christers), this is not news...

No it wouldn't that's mostly I believe why they are atheists but I'm not an atheist I have my own belief about life after death but I do share the same views about all other religion on how they can't be true

It does not surprise me at all. Many who claim to be Christian/Muslim/Etc do little to read and study their religious materials. Many of the agnostics and atheists were at one time a part of one of those groups and generally felt pushed into it. Have a great day.

Religious people actually put Gods Son to death and it happens today sadly.The fact that atheists swell the crowd today with such hatred is no coincidence.We love to think we have religious freedom and are smarter than God.

Last I saw, that claim was sustained mostly by atheists and agnostics claiming that their answers to all their poll questions were the right ones, whether or not they exhibited any understanding of any religion.

No. after all, I have won several prizes for religious education and a part of my degree was in Religion.

What I have found is that atheists and agnostic THINK they are more informed. I have to have a discussion with a serious atheist whose position is not peppered with many misunderstandings.

It comes as no surprise, atheists have been claiming to that affect, Atheist and Agnostics are so because they have studied most religions and have the knowledge to debate.

Not surprising at all. Atheism is the resultant effect of such knowledge. One has to understand what one is rejecting to reject it, from a rational perspective.
