97 jeep grand cherokee 4.0, oil pressure at idol is zero, but when rpms are1500 pressure goes up?

I recently rebuilt the 4.0, brand new oil pump, head gasket, oil pressure sending unit. new crank bearings, crank was ground down .020 rod and main caps brand new. New bearings everywhere. Checked the piston ring pressure, and getting 150psi on each cylinder. What could it be, faulty oil pump?

Are you getting your readings from the gauge inside the Jeep or a hard gauge you put in place of the sending unit? The most effective and true reading of oil pressure is this: Remove the oil pressure sender from the engine, get a adapter and thread into the block, next attach the hard gauge with a hose extension so you can read the oil pressure after the jeep is running. If reading correctly either the sender or gauge is bad, if not its internal maybe bad pump or ? You will have to disassemble engine to locate.
