I'm searching for a religion to call my own in a sorts....any help narrowing a few down?
I would like to start by claiming I do not believe in Jesus. I do however believe there is some divine entity I just find it hard to think they intervene after the fact of creation. I'm not sold on one person being as god or it even being a person at all. I'm almost certain(as is stephen hawking) that life exists somewhere out there. I call myself atheist just because I don't know what to call what I believe. I do believe in a higher power though just not sold on what that would consist of...Is there a religion that just believes in a nameless higher power or something along those lines?

Why not just embrace TRUTH and REASON and FACT? Don't have ANY religion.
Uh, you're calling yourself an atheist is NOT TRUE. If you believe in some supernatural "higher being" then you are NOT an atheist.
That there's life on other planets has NOTHING to do with anything you're talking about. There is no reason to think there's MAGIC anywhere in the universe.
There's no organized religion that believes exactly what you believe. There are believers in every religion that basically think what you do, even though that's not exactly their religion's dogma.
But, if you MUST be something, then be a Unitarian. There is NO dogma. And you'll probably find more people who think as you do in that church than anywhere else.

I guess what you'd have to do is decide what you're going to base your beliefs on. Basically, you can't believe half in the Bible and half in the Torah or other religious books. These books will contradict each other, and it will be hard to get a clear picture on what it is you want to believe. Every legitimate religion has a belief system that is based on one thing or another - being that science, a religious book or what have you.
This means that to be accurate in deciding what religion you want to associate yourself with, you're going to have to do some research on the various religious books and scientific belief systems.
Personally, I believe in the Bible. After doing extensive research into it's historical and scientific accuracy, that is the book I've decided to put my own faith in.
However everyone needs to make their own decisions on these things. The Bible encourages us to build faith in God, not by blindly believing religious assertions, but by using our “power of reason” and “mental perception.” Romans 12:1; 1 John 5:20
So, I hope you are able to decide on something! Here's a resource I used to have my questions answered from the Bible - you might find it of some use. Questions include: Is the Bible From God?; Is God an Impersonal Force?; Is God to Blame for Our Suffering?; Why Do People Die? etc.
Here's the link: http://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/questions/
I hope that helps!

So you believe in a nameless higher power that no longer demonstrates any effect on reality. Why worship that, and more to the point, why have that belief at all without evidence for it except that you don't know what else to think?

According to Russian Orthodox Christian Vyatcheslav Krasheninnikov: Humans were created about 7525 years ago. Birds participate in time creation. It's a sin to kill birds. Dinosaurs live under our level. They will get out through sinkholes and lakes. To kill them, go for their nerves. So, save the birds, but kill the dinosaurs.

You might consider becoming a Buddhist, although they are not theists per se--but they certainly do believe in an innate morality in the universe, if that helps.

I found this website to be very helpful: www.beliefnet.com There is a quiz on this site which I have found to be very accurate in pinpointing what religions go with what I believe in. You might find it useful.

you are sort of a deist which is belief in a vague non-specific god, ie not belief in a god as patently absurd as the Christian of Islamic version

I hope this helps you out.
"With all of the different religions, how can I know which one is correct?"

Only the pure and holy can enter Heaven and be with God. We human beings cannot make ourselves pure and holy no matter what we do and that's why we need a Saviour.
There are 2 kinds of people on the earth: people who love God and people who don't. Those who love God will be drawn to His Son Jesus Christ and accept him as their Lord and Saviour. Those who do not love God will not love His Son and accept Him.
1 John 2:23
Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
These who do not love God are not good people but His enemies (Romans 5:10) and He has already prepared a place for them (Hell). Many say they love God but they are liars. How can we prove they are liars? God sent His Son to die for us, but these reject Him (Jesus) and the truth about Him.
God's Plan of Salvation for Us
We cannot be united to God or enter Heaven without accepting the blood of Jesus Christ as the payment for our sins. Praise God for His great sacrifice!
God created us out of love (Jeremiah 31:3) and He doesn't want us to be separated from Him because of our sins. He loves us so much that He sacrificed His own Son Jesus Christ to pay for our sins so we could have a relationship with Him and spend eternity with Him in His kingdom (John 3:16).
Jesus came to pay for our sins with His blood (Matthew 26:28) because without the shedding of blood there would be no forgiveness of sins (Hebrews 9:22), and no other blood besides the blood of the Son of God was sufficient to pay for our sins. We are all sinners and we cannot be redeemed and saved unless we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and His shed blood as payment for our sins.
After a believer dies, they go to paradise to be with Christ (Luke 23:43). If a person dies without accepting Christ as their Lord and Saviour, they would not be forgiven by God. After death, the demons claim them and drag them to a terrible place called Hades (Acts 2:31, Luke 10:15). All those in Hades will be later thrown into the eternal lake of fire along with Satan, his hosts and all who refuse the true and only way of salvation offered in the Lord Jesus Christ. Burning in the everlasting lake of fire is known as the “second death” (Revelation 20:6, 13-15).
God was made flesh as Jesus Christ of Nazareth to make the sacrifice on the cross for the sins of all who would have faith in the Lord Jesus as their Saviour. This faith cleanses the sins of all believers, redeems and unites us to God and allows us to enter and live forever in God's Kingdom. Becoming flesh to suffer an agonizing death on a cross shows the extent of love God has for us, and He wants us to choose Him by accepting the atonement He made for our sins. The Lord Jesus is the only way, the truth and the life (John 14:6).
The truth about Jesus Christ can be found only in the word of God which is the Holy Bible. Verse 16 of chapter 3 of the first book of Timothy speaks about Jesus:
“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” (1 Timothy 3:16)
Verse 9-11 of chapter 2 of the book of Philippians tells us that Jesus Christ is Lord over all:
“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11)
False doctrines claim that there are several paths to God. Scripture/the word of God tells us that there is only one way and that is through Jesus Christ. Verse 6 of Chapter 14 of the book of John says:
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
Verse 36 of chapter 3 of the book of John reveals:
"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him" (John 3:36).
If you sincerely say this prayer, your sins will be washed away, you will be saved from eternal torment and inherit the Kingdom of God:
"Dear Jesus,
I am a sinner.
I repent of my sins.
Please forgive me and save me by your shed blood;
come into my heart.
I want to receive you as my own personal Lord and Savior.
Amen"
After sincerely saying this prayer, the Holy Spirit will abide within you and begin to lead you to all truth, empower and equip you and help you along life's journey. Keep your faith growing by reading and studying the word, remain in a repentant and humble spirit and always have Almighty God as first priority in your life.
As long as you have faith in the Lord Jesus as your Saviour you are saved. Through your faith in Christ as your Saviour the Holy Spirit will guide you in repenting of your sins and doing the will of God. If you lose this faith, you lose Salvation.
