Can you please help me with my hdmi, laptop to t.v. connection?

I have had no trouble for the first year and a half y had the laptop byut the last few moths the t.v. said no signal . the cord works fine on the Blu-ray player so I am pretty sure it is something in the software. Maybe I hit something on accident? Thank you. I will follow any instructions step by step.

If you are sure the cable is O.K then the next and most likely cause is the resolution being sent to the TV is now to high for the TV.

Next unfortunately but unlikely is faulty HDMI output or faulty TV input
