How long can companies check my credit report?
I have debt collection companies still calling me 3 years after my divorce, as my wife did not follow the agreements of the settlement. I had one call me today and tell me exactly what was on my credit report. How long can they pull this information without my consent?

Forever and ever amen. Even if the SOL applies, they have the right to collect by other methods. Only a court can free you of debt. All you can do is ask them to stop. Once you default on a debt, all the "missed payments" clauses kick in. Next time, ask to speak to a supervisor, you might get more action that way.

Forever. They can access it forever. There is no time that is so far into the future that they won't be able to access it. Even if you live to be 120 years old, they will still be able to access it then, unless the law changes (which it probably will by then).

As long as they own your debts. That makes them your creditor. They are not party to any divorce agreements between you and your ex.

I get all that, I'm not asking how long they can call me, I'm asking how long they can access my credit report
