Should Anime be dubbed as they air in Japan?

Update:

For example Space Dandy

Since Funimation is dubbing Psycho Pass 2 and Donten nI warau ( Laughing under the Clourds) as they air. Should other companies do the same?

Definitely! Faster dub releases means youre getting fresher content. Imagine how awesome it would be if, for example, Funimation starts dubbing One Piece as it airs? Wouldn't they catch up much faster?

This is definitely something that is years away from becoming common practice. Like others have said, most dubbing companies don't have the money to do so. Maybe we could eventually expect this from viz and Aniplex in a few years, but what about companies like Sentai? Or even smaller companies like Discotek?

I have a sneaking suspicion that streaming services like Crunchyroll may eventually start licensing and producing their own broadcast dubs. CR has already stepped a little into the home release pool so this really doesn't seem like that big of a stretch.

That would be great for the Dubbed Anime fans but for me I mostly prefer Subs so not for me but yeah, great for those who want Dubs. And that might increase more Anime watched as many don't watch some awesome Anime just because it is not Dubbed.

But I don't think this will become common so soon, as the companies need more money to license, dub and publish it. And this won't be for all Anime because if the Anime isn't good or popular the Dubbing companies will not really dub it right as it comes out because it's too expensive and will be their loss.

And also there are many anime which are being Dubbed already and is ongoing so they won't go into that system since the older episodes will be left out and they need to use the same actors so that probably won't become a thing.

But will companies like FUNimation or Viz take the gamble of doing that, because there is still a chance that the show might not be popular and so the Dubbing company will have big losses. And if that happens then they won't have the money to do what they were doing before so it will either be awesome or CATASTROPHIC. But still in the end of the day English Dubbed anime is really not my cup of tea although I enjoy some Dubs like the current Anime I'm watching is Dubbed.

I think projects like Space Dandy are great, because it also aired on Adult Swim at the same time, so it could reach a larger audience. However I think that dubbing stuff like Donten while they are still airing is a bad idea. The manga isn't that well known and the show isn't that popular. So I think it's a waste of money (atleast a big gamble) that they could better use on a good dub for a popular show that will earn them money.

But then again I think that it would be a good idea to dub AoT for example while it's airing (whenever that may be). It's popular, people who watched the dub want to continue with it and there is a big chance that they aren't going to wait a year for a dub. So in that case they would make more money by just dubbing it while it's airing.

Ideally that would be great but its a great undertaking that most dub studios cant afford. Funimation is the biggest dub company in the US and has the money and resources to do it, thats not the case with other dub companies. So maybe we will see one of the other bigger dub companies try to do it to but it is a challenge.

No, because that reduces the chances of the anime getting subbed.
