If your dog has been eating food that's mainly bones the high calcium will turn the stools white-ish pretty soon after it's produced. If the dog is on a mainly commercial complete food, especially if generally cereal based, it won't change colour much at all. Some animal is doing this on our front, and I've now come to the conclusion that it's a cat - and yes, this does tend to turn white overnight.

Dog poo only turns white for dogs that eat a lot of bones but it normally takes longer than that to do so.
8 to 10 hours is not enough unless a dog is eating too many bones.
