Why has Yahoo discontinued the email message alert? And counter? Messenger still notifies when a contact goes on/off line, ????

Thanks, Popeye. Interesting that Messenger still notifies but message alert and counter does not-so Yahoo can "focus on our core strengths and new innovations" but are unable for fix old problems. They obviously don't care about their users. What a crock. Gmail notifier still works fine.
