Why are there guards at the tomb of the unknown soldier in Canada?
How old is this monument,and how long has it been guarded? I would really be interested in finding out as to why it is being guarded?

The Tombe of the Unknown Soldier has been there since 2000. It is located directly in front of the National War Memorial which opened in 1939. The "Guards" (they're actually referred to as sentries) are ceremonial although they were instituted in 2007 after two men were caught urinating on the tomb.
