Algieri is still a good fighter in my eyes, he can get better anyone agree?
As far as I am concerned, I believe he could beat guys like Broner, Jessie Vargas and Josesito Lopez, Rios, Danny Garcia and Thurman. Not saying it would be easy work but I believe he belongs on their level.
I think he does better against fighters who are a little more conventional.
Pacquiao comes at people at weird angles, if you can get Pacquiao to charge at you straight on you can have a chance (ala Marquez)
Major weakness for algieri at least for me is his lack of power. He hit pacman with a right hand, and it sort of bounced off pacquiaos face .
It may not have been fully extended, but that kind of right hand can be devastating.
I agree though that this feels like a pacquiao tune up for something bigger. but hey Pacquiao is a draw, its in Venetian Macao, people can complain about this not being ppv material but at the very least the undercards in this, were far better than mayweather vs maidana 2 undercards (those were ****, but the main event was good)

Chris Algieri is an UNDEFEATED CHAMPION in two sports, kick boxing and boxing. We got to understand that this achievement is not being serve in a platter. No matter what and how some look at him as a lower class fighter, we got to understand that fighter who got such an achievement is close to being elite if they're not in there yet. The word undefeated champion explain it all, much more in two sports. Those who disagree got to have their knowledge examine.
Chris will bounce back. He is an intelligent individual who happened to be too loyal to his trainers/coach. He followed their game plan as his trainer suggest but just so happen that it doesn't work. It's like in the movie where he will get beat up so bad then he will knock his opponent out, marvelous isn't it? Lol.
I am pretty sure that he learned from his defeat. He knew now that such thing doesn't work in real life. I am sure too that he knew how to bounce back otherwise, he got another to rely on and that being a world class nutritionist.

Manny Pacquiao makes all his opponents look bad except Marquez.
Algeri had a superior reach advantage but didn't use it properly ,if he would have waited to throw his straight right when Pacquiao either rotate his left shoulder forward or circle left ,his reach would have poved to be more effective.
Take nothing from Pacquiao ,he looked fast and got the job done ,although i feel he could have got the KO if he would have pressed the action a little earlier on.

Algieri has the potential to become a better fighter simply by dropping his corner guys and go for more established trainers, or at least ones that aren't outsmarting themselves with all their "scientific approach" bullshit.. He could also stop trying to convince everyone he's smarter than them because he has a masters in a subject where you learn to mix protein shakes.
He has a good style but I don't think he'll be much of a draw if he keeps fighting the way he does. Despite the lack of power, i believe increasing his punch volume or output could significantly increase his chances of winning rounds and I can see him beating the guys you mentioned. Also, I'm beginning to feel his defense is a bit overrated, most of it is running, he just does it in a very rhythmic style that it looks like he's doing fancy footwork but he's really just running.

I think Algieri's got some skills, but I don't think his defense is as good at it could be. He moves around a lot and is tough to hit, but I don't see him blocking many shots. Even Ruslan was still clipping him with some shots later in their fight.
He had close to no defense against Pacquiao, who admittedly is one of the most awkward south paws ever.
I expect to see a possible rematch with Ruslan, and I'd HOPE that Freddie gets the guy to attack the body more and cut off the ring, rather than follow Algieri around looking to load up on one shot.

As scholarly or cerebral Algieri has been in his boxing approach,or so he claims, he does not know how to apply science to practice in boxing. You cannot hurt, much less score a knockout by throwing your punch on the fly. Unless you are an Ali who knew how to put his weight behind his punch even when he was moving.
