was sent home from twice by boss? should i quit my job.?

i started working at this brand new restaurant tht opened, new staff, new place, new everythin. I got sent home by the boss both today and yesterday he sent me home early as well. He said it was because i wasnt doing my job properly and that i am always on my phone and other crap thats not really that big of a deal, he just wanted to pick on me. Yes i was on my phone checking my roster. It only happened one time when it was the start of my shift, there was no customrs and all the other staff members were standing around 2 doin nothing, sumtimes on their phones 2. Its very quiet restaurant even the boss himself was doing nothing. Anyway, he sent me home early today and i was glad becoz i was just in the kitchen cleaning pots and polishing stuff, just like he told me to. i just don like the reason he sent me home because i did everythin i was asked to do. He said my job was 2 help the kitchen staff and i was doing exactly that. I am a food runner. I wasnt the only food runner in the place tho, there was other food runners and they were standing around in the bar area also doing nothing. He told me i should go home and think about if i want to work there. Should i just quit and look 4 another job? I feel unwanted, i dont like how he singles me out and tries to find something wrong with me. I really don't need this kind of treatment. I only have 1thousand dollars in my bank account right now. i don know how long it will last me for. pls help!

If you are unhappy there, then go find something else. Instead of quitting then looking for a job, find another job while you are working there. It is much easier to find a job while you are working than trying to find one while you are unemployed.

It is a "BIG DEAL"!!!! You are not suppose to be making or taking personal calls while at work and you need to pay attention and follow the directions given you. It is normal for a restaurant manager to send help home early if the business is slow and they are not needed. It is probably your bad attitude that is the problem and if it isn't improved, you will have a hard time finding and keeping jobs of any kind.

Just because you think being on your phone and standing around is "all that crap" doesn't mean employers think that.

I don't believe you are getting singled out. I believe you have an attitude -

As you are asking should you quit your job - that's entirely up to you.

You can certainly quit if you want to, but jobs are hard to come by these days, even if you have experience. I think it would be better if you stopped looking at what others are doing and paid more attention to your own attitude and work performance. Put away the phone and get to work. Best of luck.

"..... i am always on my phone and other crap thats not really that big of a deal, he just wanted to pick on me"

You were not 'just picked on'. You have a negative attitude to your job. Your boss has noticed this. If you want to keep this job (or any future job) you need to pick up your game.

sounds like something you really have to think about, if you don't meet his requirements you can quit, or you can follow his rules if you want the money he is paying you

No need. You'll probably be fired if it happens again.
