How to build a high voltage (40-60 Kw) power supply that outputs negative polarity?

Hello, I'm 15 and very interested in physics. I'm building a safe nuclear fusion reactor. (I know how to safely handle high voltage and radiation) I have a question about the power supply. First off, fusion takes around 40 Kilo-volts and it needs to have a negative polarity. I'm on a budget and cant spend hundreds of dollars on a high voltage negative polarity power supply. The only cheap power supplies I found find had no specification on polarity. So, I decided that if I could not find one, I might as well solder a circuit together to make my own. I would also like to add that I am never under any circumstances plugging it into the wall. I may use a battery or cap. bank. Also, if there are any power supplies under $75 at the most that are like this, please direct me where to get one. This is for science purposes, not to cause any kind of harm or anything like that. Lastly, I would like to know if there is just an IC that reverses polarity, and if I could just use that and a boost converter.

Update:

Just wanted to add that I will have an adult with me and I will be using protective equipment. I understand that 40,000 volts DC can instantly kill me and am taking full precaution.

    Simple answer: There is no need to design a special negative-output power supply. If you can build a high-voltage DC power supply, provided the output is isolated from ground, if you connect the positive output terminal to ground then the negative output will be at a negative voltage with respect to ground.

    Note however that if you do this your battery may also be at -40kV, so keep it in a secure box. 40kV can kill you, isolated or not, and it doesn't go away when you switch off the power. Capacitors hold charge.

    SIMPLE, BUY A OLD TYPE COLOR TV FLYBACK TRANSFORMER. BUILD A SIMPLE OSCILLATOR CIRCUIT WITH IT ( USE SCR OR TRNASISTOR OR FET OR EVEN TUBE). THE OSCILLATOR MUST RUN AT ABOUT 15750Hz,THAT IS THE FLYBACK TRANSFORMER WORKING FREQUENCY FOR BEST RESULT. OUTPUT HAS ABOUT 10KV TO 25KV AT 15750Hz DEPENDING ON THE FLYBACK TRANSFORMER WAS MADE. NOW BUILD ANOTHER MULTI-STAGE VOLTAGE DOUBLER TO JACK IT UP TO 6 TIMES. TO OBTAIN NEGATIVE HV, JUST REVERSE THE HV DIODES POLARITY.

    you should be CAREFUL....working on high voltage is DANGEROUS...

    DO NOT WORK ALONE......consult with your physics teacher...

    voltage multipliers can provide high voltages....

    1- if your power 120 v and you need 30 kv....30,000 / 120 =250

    diodes and 250 capacitors ..

    2- for negative output change diodes polarity..

    WARNING...capacitors were charged DO NOT TOUCH them..

    BE CAREFUL.....DO NOT WORK ALONE ...good luck
