On my 2011 Doge Durango Citadel, I have to press the start button 3 times to get it to turn on?

Even when I have the brake down, I still have to press the Run button 3 times to get it to turn on. Suggestions?

This may sound stupid but try waiting 5-10 seconds longer after the first time you press the start button before pressing it a 2nd time and see if that solves the problem.

If for whatever reason it takes a little time between when you hit "Start" the 1st time and for the engine to actually start, the 2nd time you're pressing the button you might be inadvertently telling the car to turn "off" because it might have still been trying to turn "on" from the 1st press.

That would mean that you'd be telling the engine to "start" again the 3rd time you press it if the 2nd time was accidentally telling it to turn "off" and that could explain why it starts after the 3rd press every time and not after the 2nd press of the button... or I might be completely off my rocker. Either way good luck.

What happens is, is pressing the button the first time puts the car in accessory mode, the second time puts it in run mode, and the third time starts it.
