Help understanding what he means?

Me and my husband get paid a monthly allowance from private income via a solicitor. Our monthly allowance is usually around £1000 and he said 'There is now £4900 remaining in the account. I will send payment to you next week which is the balance above, less the monthly allowance.' What does he mean by that? He is sending the whole amount? Just the monthly allowance? Or £3900 as that would be the above amount less the monthly allowance? Feeling so confused! He also said in his previous email that his next payment to us would be the last. Thanks in advance!

It's a little unclear, but all in all, he's going to pay you the whole remaining balance and then that's this fund gone.

It would be nice if solicitors wrote letters in plain English but they aren't good at it!

Query it with him. If there is £4900 left in the account now and he is only sending you £3900 as the final balance, you need to ask where the other £1000 is going. I know he said it is the monthly allowance, but is that not your own monthly allowance which should be coming your way?

Email/contact him to understand the situation clearer. I don't think our opinions matter as he will only know what he is doing. As far as I see it might be £3900.

You clearly understand. Next payment will be the last and it will be £3900

What he says unclear. However, the only way to find out what he does mean is to ask him - it could be either option, and I would just be guessing at random.
