How long between death to funeral?

I'm writing a story and if someone dies and it's ruled natural causes/no investigation, how long is it usually until the funeral? A couple days? A week? What's the earliest if the family wanted the funeral asap?

Usually 2 or 3 days. I scheduled my dads funeral for 6 days out.

He passed away on a Sunday. I scheduled the funeral for the next Saturday. That way people had time to plan for travel purposes. Also,I liked the idea of having the funeral on a weekend so people could attend who couldn't get a day off of work.

    There was a large turnout.

It depends on a variety of factors. If the person who died was Jewish, the family feels in most cases that a funeral and burial must happen within 48 hours. Otherwise, it might take as long as a week or even more, again depending on the family of the deceased.
