Why does he start conversations (text) but not finish- he just leaves me hanging?

He, my boyfriend, sent me a few pictures of him wearing the shirt that he asked me to buy for him and a new red sweatshirt of his own. I replied asking if the sweater was new. He said yeah and he asked if he looked okay. Then I replied he looked just fine in it , the red sweartshirt would look nice if it was maroon and that i was happy that he was wearing it (i meant the shirt i gave him). ANd then he never replied???? Is that normal for guys?
