Is there any proof that no higher power exists?

If you want to answer "you can't prove a negative," don't bother... since I'm asking this specifically of people who assert that absolutely, positively, there can be no higher power?

Doesn't it make sense to assume the existence of a Creation. This statement is tricky because it sneaks in the false assumption that GOD came from somewhere and then asks where that might be. The answer is that the question does not even make sense. It is like asking, “What does blue smell like?” Blue is not in the category of things that have a smell, so the question itself is flawed. In the same way, GOD is not in the category of things that are created or caused. GOD is uncaused and uncreated—He simply exists.

We know that from nothing, nothing comes. So, if there were ever a time when there was absolutely nothing in existence, then nothing would have ever come into existence. But things do exist. Therefore, since there could never have been absolutely nothing, something had to have always been in existence. That ever-existing being is what we call GOD ,GOD is the un-caused Being that caused everything else to come into existence. God is the uncreated Creator who created the universe and everything in it.

The universe requires a cause because it had a beginning, GOD unlike the universe, had no beginning, so he doesn’t need a cause. Einstein’s theory of general relativity, which has much experimental support, shows that time is linked to matter and space. So time itself would have begun along with matter and space. Since GOD is the creator of the whole universe, he is the creator of time. Therefore He is not limited by the Reality, Time dimension He created..

You can't see the wind, but you know it is there because you can see what the wind is doing. You can know that the wind is there because you can feel it.GOD is like the wind, you can't see him.

    Ok

First, when considering this position, it's important to recognize the difference between complexity and design. Complexity itself does not require an intelligent creator.

People believe in scripture and place value in the words because they already believe in the religious principles the text describes.

There is no inherent value to the Bible, Quran or any other religious text; these documents are not self-authenticating in any way.

In fact, many factual inaccuracies and inconsistencies can be found within religious texts themselves.

Prayer is a type of magical thinking. Its appeal is undeniable; it feels empowering and makes individuals feel as though they have a measure of control over the world around them.

But there is simply no evidence that prayers are anything more than a placebo. And unlike many placebos, prayer can actually be harmful.

    *Update*

The same can be said for other religious sects NOT keeping true to history and events.

There is NO proof of God!

If any "God" OR any "Gods" give humanity a guiding hand then theists should explains this:

    * How do will fix overpopulation if our near by planets are inhabitable.

    * What witness do you have to present divine invention?

    * Look at the world there is little karma; preached in the bible or any religion and those who are victim fall to evil themselves.

    * Why does are sun give us cancer OR that we suffer from comic radiation

    * Genetic deformity happen daily.

    Is There A Higher Power

    No.

You can't prove that a sentient strawberry colored teapot in orbit around the moon was NOT the center of all creation.

EDIT: By the way, most expert theistic ontological/philosophical/apologetic debates avoid asking having to prove a negative because they know that such a proposition is logically fallacious. But I'm sure you'll understand that eventually.

I don't even know what you mean by "a higher power." Is it possible that there is some physical being in the universe smarter than us? Absolutely - almost certainly. But the commonly described Judeo-Christian/Muslim God of Abraham/Allah is impossible to exist. There are logical conflicts in his behavior and characteristics that cannot be resolved.

Romans 1:20 says "For his invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world’s creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship, so that they are inexcusable." When we look around us we see proof of a higher power. Similarly we cannot see the the wind but we can still feel the affects. Just like God, even though we can't see him, we still experience the affects of his existence in our life.

There's no proof either way! If God does exist, and if he's anything like people want to believe, then clearly he set it up this way on purpose.

You use the vague term "higher power" favored by twelve-step programs. To twelve-steppers, a "higher power" can be nature or science or consciousness or pretty much anything. And nature and science and consciousness evidently do exist.

If what you actually wanted was proof that "no god exists", don't pussyfoot around, say "god".

You overestimate proof, m' friend. Or or you just having fun, showing off?

You have already answered your pseudo-question. You are very nearly in violation of the rules, since you realize that what you posted is not in fact a question, since the answer has already been amply shown to be no.

    Merry Christmas.

Higher power is a dubious phrase, in that there is no clear cut definition. In order to examine something you have to define it in a way that you can accept or reject portions of the definition. I will establish the definition of a higher power as linked to the traditional notion of gods that create physical reality, answer prayers, and are known through written documents like the Torah, New Testament, Quran, Bhagavad Gita, etc. For the sake of this argument, let's work with the Judeo-Christian religions, which are the most prevalent in the world (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam).

You have to examine the physical, mathematical, and historical references when making a determination with regard to the existence of something. If there is a lack of evidence concerning these three aspects, the only intellectually honest position is to reject the existence of something. Physically, there is no evidence that would even begin to lend itself to the existence of a god or gods. In fact, the more you look into claims of activity attributed to said gods, the more you find the lack of a need for one, ergo the physical evidence platform fails.

The mathematical evidence of the existence of a god or gods can be arrived at a number of different ways. You have to establish that there is some phenomenon that can only be attributable to a god or gods and show that absent that phenomenon, the basis of the existence of something else cannot hold true. I could give a laundry list of tests for this, but let's take prayer as an example. There is no statistically significant relationship between prayer and the occurrence of positive things, indicating that positive occurrences happen at random with relation to prayer. Since answering prayers is a defining characteristic of gods, and because there is no relationship between prayers and the thing prayed for actually happening, we must reject the hypothesis that god is responsible for prayers. If you can tell me one mathematical proof that requires the existence of a god, this will change, but until then the mathematical platform for the existence of god fails.

Finally, the historical. Since the only verifiable evidence for a god or gods rests in the books written of them we can examine their veracity as well. Its one thing to take a real life individual, like George Washington, and attribute mythological aspects like the story of the apple tree and wooden teeth, another entirely to completely fabricate an entire story. We have to look at the core issues to determine if the source is valid and reliable. In the case of the Judeo-Christian religion, the first source is the Torah, which is part of the Christian Bible, which in turn is referenced heavily in the Quran. There are 60 core contradictions in the Christian Bible which negate the establishment of the source as absolute truth and hundreds more questionable references. As for the existence of Jesus, the debate has been beaten to death. No contemporary historian, journalist, record keeper, Roman administrator, etc. ever mentioned Yeshua ben Josef of Nazareth AKA Jesus Christ (the Anointed Savior), an individual said to have thousands of followers. There is no physical evidence of his existence either. Chances are he did not exist and was created as a mythological being about 200 years after he was said to exist. Kinda like if I were to say that in the 1800s there was a magical man named "Chosen to End Slavery" that had superpowers and single handed led to the fall of slavery. As for the Torah, very little magic and supernatural stuff actually happens in it other than personal accounts, which like UFO abductions, are dubious evidence at best. I can't say that I have read all of the Quran, I'm sure those who have can provide the contradictions and questionable content here just the same. But at least for Judaism and Christianity, the historical platform rather fails as well, in a rather epic way.
