Feminists, do you believe in psychological differences between men and women?

I am a 66 years old man and when I was young, being liberal hippie, I believed that men and women were born equal and that if was our education that made the girl interested in dolls and boys, in cars. As I got married, had a kid and now three grand-children, I started believing more and more in evolutionist psychology. Boys and girls are born different (and so are gay people for the matter).

Of course, nature vs. nurture will always be discussed but here is something I once read:

A chimp needs to see another chimp afraid of snakes to become afraid itself. We can teach a chimp to be afraid of anything, even flowers. But it is much, much easy to get a chimp to be afraid of snakes. It is in their genes.

I also remember seeing once on the TV the interview of a New York Jewish feminist author of the 1960s who said about this: we see less and less racial difference and, one day, it will be gone. But the difference of the genders will always be there as we are made differently. Sorry I forgot her name but you perhaps know her, she is supposed to be famous.

Anyway, although reported in a misleading way, there is a growing body of research on "gender differences."

However, that research does NOT find traits, besides our reproductive organs, that are universal in one sex and absent in the other, or in which ALL members of one sex score higher than ALL members of the other.

Variation WITHIN each sex is vast, compared to relatively tiny differnces in AVERAGES BETWEEN the sexes.

Your assumption that it is liberals who hate fact, reality, and truth are as misguided as the rest of what you write. It's conservatives who abandoned all reality-based thinking long ago.

Anyway, back to sex-differences -- the differences they find are relatively trivial. Given 30 seconds, women can give a few more examples of words starting with a particular letter, for instance. Again, ON AVERAGE -- that doesn't mean ALL women score higher than ALL men.

Anyway, that's hardly something that would preclude someone from some particular career; or make them the best at any particular career. It's a tiny thing.

Never heard of evopsych. Saying that people who understand that women are HUMAN BEINGS deserving of HUMAN RIGHTS doesn't make us people who reject science or knowledge.

It's not liberals and feminsits who want to FORCE women to spend their lives pregnant -- or refuse to ever have sex with their own husbands, for instance.

And it's not feminists and liberals who think rape victims are always in the wrong, and the rapists are the real victims.

So, your reason for hating all women and thinking that people who think women are humans who deserve human rights is WHAT, exactly?

Both Feminists and MRM are ideologies that are not based on sound reasoning or logic.

The scientific evidence that both men and women are emotionally and physically different is counterproductive to both of these insane ideologies. That’s why you will never see either one us any science and thereby ignoring the most important factor when discussing gender, that is our biology.

well, at the very least they think that men are better at pulling off successful oppression and better at freeing themselves from oppression. Plus, we men aren't crippled by the word 'bossy' and we don't decide to NOT go into STEM fields b/c of some guy's shirt, nor are we deterred from careers in tech b/c of dongle jokes. So yeah, if by 'psychological differences' you mean "Feminists, do you believe women are helpless infants and men are emotionally invulnerable?" then yeah.

It's not that I distrust anything remotely related to evopsyche. I just believe that we underestimate the affect of social conditioning on gender differences. Evopsyche plays a role, but it does not have as drastic effects as social conditioning.

There is only one reason to overemphasize "nurture" over "nature." And that is to restlessly fool with nature because you're too unhappy to accept it. In other words, you come first, nature and everybody else can take a back seat.
