Jesus the Prophet?

Christians don't understand what the term "son of God" meant in those times to Jews. It simply meant a prophet, or a holy person. Jews did not literally believe God had a son. When Jews asked Jesus if he was the "son of God" that would be like asking him if he was the Messiah, the Jewish Messiah who was just supposed to be a man.

When Gentiles joined the church after he had died and read these Gospels they believed it was a literal meaning because they already believed in pagan gods who had children with humans. Had they been Jews they would never have thought he was the actual son of God.

That's why it wasn't until 325 AD that the Trinity and the "nature" of Jesus was officially defined by the Catholic Church. It had to be because there were so many different beliefs as to what Jesus was before that.

Jews don't believe Jesus was a prophet. Just one of many people who claimed to be the Messiah back in those times and was proven not to be when he died without fulfilling any Messianic prophecies. His own family thought he was crazy according to the Gospels.

According to the Gospels he had hundreds or thousands of followers (disciples), but at the time of his death he had just 12 left. That means practically everyone realized that he was not the Messiah and abandoned him.

After his death his loyal followers invented this claim that he would be coming back because they couldn't accept that was not the Messiah. It's been 2,000 years now so he has had ample time to return.

By the time Jesus appeared on the scene, most Jews were completely apostate from true Judaism as set forth in the "Old Testament". Even Jews who accepted Jesus had a struggle to remove the apostate thinking from their minds. After Jesus' time, even more apostate ideas came into Judaism.

The second big factor is that most professed Christians believe things such as Jesus is God, or Jesus is part of a Trinity, which is anathema to both sincere Jews and also true Christians.

God promised the time when Israel as a nation would believe. It's not going to happen until the Second Coming. Remember, some Jews believed already.

FYI, most jews do not consider Jesus as a prophet. The muslims view Jesus as a prophet. The jews consider Jesus as a rogue jew that splintered off the traditional jewish religion and formed a cult that blossomed later into a religion.

Jesus was sent down to Earth from God to preach the messages that God Himself taught Jesus.. this shows that he was a messenger aka prophet. People think he was the Son of God because Jesus used to call God his Father. Anybody could say that they are the children of God since God has given them life. Jesus prayed in the same way as Muslims. He basically submitted his will to almighty God. A Muslim means a person who submits their will to God. Jesus was killed by Jews but before he died, he told people that another messenger will take his place and everyone should listen to the upcoming messenger. That messenger was Muhammad! Thus Islam and the Quran was named and made by Prophet Muhammad, correcting everything that the Jews misunderstood from the teachings of Jesus. Jesus was a Muslim!

Hm... I once met a jewish lady and she told me nasty things about Jesus. She said nothing about him being a Prophet but she said he was a magician trained in Egypt... I think it's the Muslims who view Jesus as a Prophet even though they disagree with what the Bible says about him.

If you were RCC, certainly you would know that the reason He was killed on Good Friday was because The Christ had proclaimed to the leaders of the Jewish Temple that He was the Lord God, and the Pascal Lamb come to take all sins away, for that, they decided to condemn the Christ. perhaps reading the Bible would help, I know the RCC does not proclaim that a lot, as you might accidently come upon the reason for the Reformation, and Sola Scriptura.

Jesus didn't fulfill the Jewish messianic prophecies.

1. Jesus is completely irrelevant to us Jews and Judaism. He plays absolutely no role in Judaism and no Jews consider him a prophet.

2. The idea of a literal child of HaShem is pagan in origin and diametrically opposes every word of the Tanach (Jewish Bible). When the phrase 'son of HaShem' is used in Tanach, it is not literal. It is a literary device to denote that individual's special relationship with HaShem. Moshe is referred to as the son of HaShem.

Actually: the claim that Jewish people consider Jesus a prophet is a myth. Most Jewish people consider Jesus to be a heretic and no prophet.

It is **Muslims** who believe that Jesus was a prophet.
