What are the classic X-men storylines that a fan of the comics should read?
In the past couple of years, I have become a big fan of X-men comics, and I want to get all of the classic storylines. I currently have X-men Omnibus 1, the Dark Phoenix graphic novel, Days of Future Past graphic novel, and G-d Loves Man Kills.
I read the Inferno saga and the stuff leading up to it once when I was much younger and loved it, so I am planning in the future to get the Fall of Mutants graphic novel, Inferno Epilogue, and Inferno graphic novel.
What other classics am I missing? I heard the full Age of Apocalypse set was good. Anything else?

- ?Lv 76 years agoJust about anything from the Claremont era of the 70s-and 80s is worth a read at some point. He transformed the Xmen from just another superhero book into a juggernaut and most of the characters and themes which continue to dominate the X-books have their origins in Claremont's tenure. He worked with several different artists over that period including Dave Cockrum, Paul Smith, John Byrne, and John Romita Jr. Claremont wrote or co--wrote all of the storylines you mentioned in your question. If you liked Inferno you should check out some of his earlier work on X-men which is even better.
- 6 years agoYou should get the Onslaught series that came out in the 1990's. It's a 16-issue series that X-Men: The Last Stand failed to adapt. It's an epic series with a lot of back-story and action. I think it's the most important too with how many characters it introduces and how many important ones it kills off.
