What are the difference between airlines, airways and air?

    I'm assuming you mean its usage as name brands for companies involved with commercial air travel. Other than the name, there is no difference. ex. U.S. Airways and Southwest Airlines. Both are major companies providing the same product of commercial air travel.

    If you are referring to these words as nouns rather than its use as part of a name, then a dictionary will provide a far more meaningful answer in this case.

    In my opinion there is no difference. I guess the company goes with what sounds better with their name. A lot of U.S. based companies use airlines. US Airways probably chose Airways so the public does not confuse them with a generic company.
